Protecting Our Neighborhood and Watershed from Industrial Development
We are a community of Arcata residents united in our commitment to protect our neighborhoods and environment. We call for the proposed 180-foot cell tower near Shirley Boulevard to be relocated to a more suitable site. We wholeheartedly support reliable cell coverage, but it should not come at the expense of our community’s safety, natural beauty, or environmental health.
Responsible planning places infrastructure where it benefits everyone, not where it endangers wildlife, increases fire risk, or undermines the value and character of our neighborhoods. The current proposal threatens the integrity of the Grotzman Creek Watershed, a vital and protected area that sustains forest, wildlife, and families.
Join us in shaping a solution that reflects the values of Arcata: environmental stewardship, public safety, and respect for community spaces. Together, we can advocate for smarter, safer infrastructure that benefits everyone.
